Grading
Replacing an existing driveway or parking lot should start with an evaluation of the road base that will provide a level and balanced foundation for new paving of all types.
Installing a new parking lot requires grading for stability and longevity. Grading is the process of leveling the subbase of the asphalt to the correct angle so that water properly drains from the surface. If this isn’t done correctly, the water will eventually oversaturate the base material turning it into mud which will in turn not support the asphalt above.
A subbase that is correctly graded helps prevent:
● Water damage
● Cracking
● Pothole formation
● Sinking
● Flooding
